Blessing of the Stained Glass Windows Designed and Created

by Thomas Durrett

January 28, 2017

We are able to dedicate these windows today because of the generosity of our parishioners who donated funds for

the stained glass windows in thanksgiving or in loving memory of various friends and family.

We extend a special word of thanks to one of our parishioners, Thomas Durrett, for designing and creating these beautiful windows.

Tom Durrett's artistic ability began in high school with sketching, oil and watercolor painting.  It was not until moving to Clarksburg in 1984 and becoming exposed to stain glass and led glass windows in private homes and churches, that Tom became interested in creating stain glass windows and products.  After taking a class from a local artisan, Tom began creating his endeavors in this art medium.  He was successfully juried by Tamarack in Beckley as a qualified, recognized West Virginia artisan able to sell products at the Tamarack facility.  He has created custom glass windows, cabinet doors, and various ornaments and sun catchers.

The windows at St. Barnabas have been an endeavor of passion and love.  He has researched each glass design and biblical or Christian references for the overall concept and meaning of each window.   This information is available on this website on the drop-down page, our windows, under the heading, our church.
